Humans and Effigies have separated themselves into clans, and although the 2 clans do not fight with themselves, they are independent of each other. Be noted that, even though they're independent from themselves, they still help each other occasionally, and also heavily trade. Most kingdoms are usually race exclusive, and they are in small clusters of kingdoms of its same race, keeping most kingdoms in mixed race environments, but still near same-race allies.
ef·fi·gy
noun
a crude sculpture or model of a person.
The Effigy of humanity.
⊗ - "This sounds cool 'n all, but to clarify, this is straight up bullshit, whatever idiot named the Effigies like that was clearly stupid because if between us humans and the effigies, if one of us is supposed to be the inferior copy of the other species then it'd CLEARLY be the humans. Like, dude, come on."
Effigies;
Effigies can be recognized by their::
- White hair
- Glowing iris'
- Streak of skin coming from behind the ears (called ribbons)
- Goat-Like horns
- Exoskeletal Claw hands
- Skin patterns
- Slightly desaturated skin color.
- Sharper canines.
"Sentry© apologises, the image data could not be recovered from delta-7-J."
⊗ - they forgot the horns on that one.. too late to alter it now i guess, still looks amazing.
Biological but non-visible changes include:
Better digestion of meat, better heat insulation, MUCH bigger sense of unity within its own species, along with a way bigger sense of empathy for its own kin. Stronger legs, making them much more athletic. Better ability to control internal organs willingly.
extra info:
Effigies, although hostile-looking (and biologically backed up to be), sympathize with any creature smart enough to talk, although they're a more predatory species, being much more hostile to the rest of the animal kingdom. Due to the harsh cold in Frosted Sun, and the more hostile and predatory nature of many species, the Effigies evolved to be practical killing machines. They evolved claws, to dig into the prey's flesh and tear it apart, horns to headbutt them, sharper teeth to bite them, and stronger legs to charge at them, or if needed, to run away. Although fierce warriors, their kingdoms' knowledge rival the science of the human kingdoms.
Effigies are also slightly better at learning and using magic, although their bodies are slightly less energy-efficient at it, making them have more power than humans, but less potential than them.
The Effigy caste system;
The effigy caste system is linked to the shape of the claws in effigies - Due to multiple genome sequences that overlap in determining what claw an effigy will have, at birth, the body will randomly pick one of the sequences to determine mentioned characteristics in gestation, which determine the caste of the Effigy. The caste of an effigy is also linked to it's role in society, with differing castes having pre-determined functions in society, although this is not obligatory, and even though one would face minor repercussion, an Effigy could be an outcaste (choosing a profession or role that doesn't match it's caste's profession.)
CASTES AND THEIR ROLES:
Ausme
Construction, manufacturing, repairing and maintaining.
Two segment fingers, regular claw ends.
Zwill
Teachers, mentors, medics and nurses, assistants, etc.
Three segment fingers, double-edged claw ends.
Asdal
Researchers, scientists and experimenters.
Three segment fingers, fully dull claws.
Sveir
merchants / artisans, or delivery people
Three segment fingers, Regular claw ends.
Osset
Warriors, hunters, firefighters, generally folk that deal with danger.
Double segment fingers, claw end split in 2.
These are the main Castes, and there are many sub castes in individual kingdoms, along with the possibility for naturally born un-castes (dull,two segment fingers) that fill in the gaps in other jobs.
They ALSO have the costume of calling humans they like their "Vazkin", a friendly nickname that expresses friendliness. (⊗ - "means something like 'other species'?? no idea on this one, actually.")
it is important to mention that, although not scientifically proved yet, there is a collective suspicion that the Effigies are genetically (although not by too much) inclined to do what their caste dictates, being a possible origin for the system to have even been formed at all.
Humans;
..We're just the good old humans, honestly, not a lot to mention on this.
Elderlin Tribe;
Ok, This one is actually so obscure, im pretty sure anyone reading this will just now find out that these are either even a thing or more than folklore. This doesn't get a spot in the main species page because there are so few of them, but i found them so interesting when i gave their tribe a visit recently that i just HAD to make a page for them...
